Funded by the Swedish Save the Children Effective Date: 05/05/2010 Place: Gaza City Target group: children under the age of 6 years to 17 years old Overview: The problem of environmental pollution and climate change has become a global problem that concerns people and they try to find a regular basis to develop mechanisms and strategies to reduce this phenomenon, and despite all that, this problem is growing and steadily, and more classes that can be exposed to harm because of this phenomenon are children in general. It is the most important causes of environmental pollution or climate change is the remnants of human non-biodegradable naturally, such as plastics and metals solid waste, which cause pollution in the air, and these residues do not have any transfer secure system in the Gaza Strip, but is only assembled in large areas of "garbage dump" and then are burned every day, leading to contamination of the entire air in the surrounding areas of the landfill. And here we must say that it is the right of children to live in a clean environment free from disease and we are providing this environment for them. General description of the initiative: This initiative comes in response to this important requirement and include a range of activities aimed at educating parents and adults through the children who carry a clear message to them which is that I have the right to live in a clean environment free from disease. So 100 children, divided in 5 groups from the age of 10 and even 17 years old and over 10 consecutive days implemented of the Initiative's activities, which include a campaign to collect solid waste such as plastic, nylon, wood and minerals from the areas surrounding the status of the family and also the work of home visits to families and distributing leaflets to them explain how to deal with solid waste, and children will also demand from the people to provide them with old clothing, damaged or unused. After that, solid waste is moved to the family center, where a group of other children and animators recycle such waste to use them for purposes other industry and beautiful Antiques and Collectibles from the same waste. After the completion ofthe assembly processand theconversion,an exhibitioncenterwas carriedto viewall shapesandnew toolsthathave beenmanufactured The overall objective of the initiative: Public awareness of the importance of preserving the environment through the activities carried out by the children themselves Specific Objectives: 1. To get the message across to the public on the importance of conserving the local environment. 2. Educating 100 children directly of how to take advantage of the solids. 3. Finding the atmosphere of voluntary work in the surrounding area from the center. 4. Rising awareness of the importance of preservation of the environment and re-optimal use of solids. The activities of the initiative: 1. Awareness campaign of solid waste dangers. 2. Training children on how to collect the solids in ways that are safe and sound. 3. Campaign for the collection of solids within the surrounding area. 4. The distribution of leaflets to educate people. 5. Exhibition for Solid Waste Recycling. Expected outcomes: 1. The participate of 100 children in the initiative 2. Rising awareness of 1500 families of project through awareness campaign. 3. An Exhibition of processing products recycled by solid waste. 4.
